The
International Volunteer Travel partners with the Costa Rica government
in the area of children’s security and adoptions. International
volunteers and interns will get the opportunity to volunteer abroad
with children at church sponsored orphanages and government day care
centers in this country, in Central America.
International Volunteer Duties: Participants volunteering with orphans in Latin America will assist in leading games and activities, songs and reading, helping teachers with materials, arts and crafts, and also assist in teaching English classes. Other duties include playing and helping the children with homework.Volunteers abroad in Costa Rica will also assist with maintenance of day care facilities, gardening and painting.

Volunteer Abroad with Orphans Program Highlights
Starting Dates: 2nd and 4th Monday of every Month
Airport Arrival: Day before starting date, preferably by 10:30AM
Transportation: Volunteering placements in Costa Rica are within walking distance of the host home. Volunteers abroad who choose to take a bus will pay about USD 0.35 for a days return trip.
Schedule: Monday to Friday, part time or full time, 8 AM to 12 Noon; 8 AM to 5 PM.
Age Limit: 18 and over if participating singly; 16 and above if part of a group.
Location: San Jose, Tres Rios, Santa Ana, San Pedro, Tibás, Guadalupe, and San Sebastian, etc.
Accommodation and Meals: Costa Rica Volunteers with children stay with host families and are provided two local meals per day plus free laundry. Hostel accommodation can be arranged at extra cost.Spanish Language Requirements
Working or basic knowledge of Spanish is highly recommended but not
required. In Costa Rica. Skills can be acquired through our Survival Spanish Program for beginners or the Costa Rica Study Abroad Program.
