Costa Rica Wildlife Refuge
Four hours from San Jose, this Wildlife refuge is an important area for conservation of several species of birds, turtles, caimans (like alligators) some woody vegetation.
International Volunteer Duties: Habitat
monitoring 
of the animals as well as patrolling the water bodies and
the lagoons on a boat; wildlife research; orienting researchers,
customers and tourists to the refuge, tour guiding to the refuge,
monitoring of cetaceans, community development, teaching English
classes, maintaining organic orchards, cleaning up the river, building
trails, receiving visitors, answering phone calls of tourist, bookings,
developing brochures, customer service, and front desk duties, etc.
Transport: Within 5 to 10 minutes of walking distance from home. Bus return trip will normally be around USD 0.35.
Schedule: Monday to Friday, 8:00 am to 4:00 pm
Free Pass: Access to the park is free for volunteers abroad in this Costa Rica eco-tourism project.
Location: Cano Negro, 4 hours from San Jose.
Survival Spanish: For Wildlife project participants, they will be based in San Jose during the Survival Spanish (first) week. They will proceed to the wildlife project from the second week.
