The Ghana Language and Culture Experience
To enhance the experience of overseas interns and volunteers abroad in Ghana, the International Volunteer Travel offers a special one week program, called the Ghana Language and Cultural Experience .
The Ghana Language and Cultural Experience program is geared towards helping the student develop in practical skills for everyday travel situations such as restaurants, banks, supermarkets, post offices, and airports in Ghana. International volunteers and overseas interns are also given lectures on Ghana?s culture, religion, customs, politics, geography and various other topics.
The Ghana Language and Cultural Experience program offers overseas volunteers and interns, day tours to tourist attractions and other places of interest.
Sample Schedule
A sample schedule of the Ghana Language and Cultural Experience program is as follows:
Day 1: Arrival and pickup from the Kotoka International Airport, in Accra, Ghana (airport Code ACC). Economy Hotel in Accra.
Day 3: Morning: Lecture introduction to volunteer projects you expect to work Day 4: Travel to Assin Foso in Central Region to begin the language classes and other activities. |
The International Volunteer Travel Ghana Language and Cultural Experience is not offered on its own, only on combination with one other program such as the Volunteer Abroad in Ghana, Internships Abroad in Ghana, or one of our Ghana Adventure Holiday Programs.

Mondays to Fridays.
3 to 6 hours daily (10 to 20 hours weekly).

Day 2:
In the morning after registration: Lecture on Ghanaian society and
culture, followed by a familiarization tour of central Accra. In the
afternoon, you will visit the beach side for a time of relaxation and
rest. In the evening if it is possible we will arrange for a courtesy
call on the mayor of Accra.

Day 7: Twi
language classes continue and end by mid-day. In the afternoon
volunteers abroad will visit with a local Ghanaian Chief who is the
head of the village. You will be able to experience how the chief
relates to his/her subjects and the rest of society.
