Registration Fee
A non-refundable registration fee of USD 349 must accompany your application. We guarantee you placement in your first two choices and your first two countries and will refund your registration fee if are unable to provide you placement as indicated.
Combining Guatemala Programs
In addition to taking a program separately, you can combine programs such as Guatemala volunteer or internship placement with either of the adventure programs, the Guatemala Spanish Language Study Abroad or the Survival Spanish Program. Additionally, those taking the Spanish Study abroad program can take volunteer placement for free or take the internships for a surcharge of USD 100 only. For those combining volunteer placement with adventure programs, volunteer placement starts in week 2 of the simply adventure program and week 3 for the Best of Guatemala program.

Spanish Language Requirements: Except for the reforestation
project, Group health care placement and 2-3 week adventure program
participants who do not require basic Spanish, all other Guatemala
program participants must sign up for two weeks of Free Basic Spanish. Ideally volunteers take Spanish classes in the during half of the day and volunteer during the other half.
Health Care Projects: Health care internships are only
open to students with at least one year of program core coursework.
Combining Adventure Programs: Those wishing to combine adventure programs with internships need to add USD 100 to the quoted
adventure program fees. Those wishing to combine Spanish Study Abroad with Adventure should email us.
What Fees and Costs Cover
Logistics: communication, program information, finding
and organizing projects, Guatemala office expense (utilities, salaries,
maintenance, office rent), coordination, and donation to projects,
project supervision.
Food and Accommodation: Including 3 meals per day
during studies and project work, vegetarian meals with prior arrangement.
Spanish Study Abroad Program: For paid up participants,
5 hours of classes per day 5 days a week with 30 minutes break; teachers,
free library services; food and accommodation as indicated above.
Guatemala Adventure Tours: Logistics as outlined above;
transport, in-country flights and meals provision varies according
to indicated schedule for each adventure option; accommodation in hotels
as indicated; gate fees to covered events and sites where clearly indicated
in the sample schedule.
Insurance: Comprehensive Travel and Health Insurance.
Costs Not Covered
Travel: International travel to Guatemala; pickup
and drop off at the airport (you will get assistance in arranging airport
pickup and transport to Xela); international and local airport departure
fees (USD 36); In-country travel (outside what is indicated in the
adventure tours), visa fees, transport to and from work daily if any
(almost all projects are within walking distance of home); during the
tours , accommodation and meals not clearly specified in the sample schedules.
Other Meals: not included in the sample schedules including special diets;
drinks; bottled water, refreshments.
Miscellaneous Expenses: personal expenses such as
toiletries, leisure, gifts, and costs associated with private or optional
travel/events.

Important Additional Costs
Transport to Xela from Guatemala City: Cost
is about USD 7.00 for one-way bus ride.
Meals During Adventure Tours: Some most meals are covered ( see specific Adventure program schedules), otherwise cost of meals is around USD 10 for a meal and USD 5 for a snack.
