Volunteering With Orphans in Nepal

Poverty and social turmoil has left many children as orphans in Nepal and other countries in Asia.  The International Volunteer Travel partners with orphanages in Nepal to provide volunteer services through education, voluntary feeding program and other related services to enhance the lives of these underprivileged children.

Nepal Orphanage Volunteer Duties: Nepal volunteers working with orphanages will assist in volunteer health education, teaching English, developing creative talents such as arts and crafts, painting and playing games, among other related activities.  Other voluntary work includes helping with cooking, washing clothes for the kids, washing dishes, doing regular home chores and assisting with their homework.

Nepalese Language Requirements

Strongly encouraged but not required. We offer a one-week Language and Culture Program especially for those with no prior knowledge of Nepalese.

Nepal Children Volunteer Program Highlights

Age Limit: 18 and over; Under 18 years only as outlined on Gap Year Abroad in Nepal and Group Volunteer Abroad pages.

Location:Sainbu VDC at Lalitpur

Length of Program: 2 to 14 weeks.

Starting Dates:1st and 3rd Thursday of every Month

Airport Arrival: By 3:00 PM the previous day.

Accommodation and Meals: Accommodation provided in special selected Host families. 3 local Nepalese meals are provided per day including free self-packed lunch.

Transportation: Projects mostly walking distance from home. Alternatively take commuter bus; fare will normally be no more than USD 1.00 per day for a return trip to and from project.

Schedule: Mondays to Fridays. 3 to 8 hours daily.
