Lack of enough schoolteachers is a major problem in most
of Latin America including Peru.
Volunteers abroad and gap year overseas program participants can provide much needed help. In Peru, South America international volunteers can and teach English as a second language (TESOL) or teach other subjects like math or the sciences. Teaching Volunteer Duties
In Peru, teaching abroad voluntary work includes helping teachers in the class, reading, grading materials, teaching English, Math, Science, and Physical Education. As an overseas teacher in the South American country of Peru, you can also provide voluntary service in Talent development, Enhancing clubs and societies. Carpentry, Ceramic, Bakery and Hydrophone.

Peru Volunteer Program Highlights
Age Limit: 18 and over; Under 18 years only as outlined on Gap Year Abroad in Peru and Group Volunteer Abroad pages.
Location: Lima, Capital City of Peru.
Length of Program: 2 to 12 weeks.
Arrival Dates: 2nd and 4th Wednesday of every Month.
Airport Arrival Time: Preferably by 4:00 PM.
Airport Transport: Airport pickup and drop off provided.
Professional Requirements: All health care volunteers (doctors, nurses, and program students, etc) need proof of training such as practicing license, health care student ID, etc.
Accommodation and Meals: Accommodation provided in special selected Host families. 3 local Peruvian meals (breakfast, lunch, dinner) are provided per day. You are allowed to pack your lunch from home for free.
Laundry: Free, a $10.00 value per week.
Basic Spanish: Free lessons, 2 hours per day, for one week.
Schedule: Mondays to Fridays. 3 to 8 hours daily.
Transportation: Most projects within 5 to 20 minutes walking distance from home. Projects further off can be reached by walking or by local bus at your expense and cost up to about USD 2.00 for a daily return trip to and from project. See specific project for details.
