The
International Volunteer Travel Serengeti Adventure program starting
in Zanzibar is an amazing two-week program incorporating almost
7 days of Africa volunteer service in Zanzibar, and 5 days of
touring breathtaking wildlife parks in the mainland of Tanzania
including the Serengeti world wonder. This program is the same
as the Tanzania Serengeti Adventure except that the tours begin
in Zanzibar. The jungle safari expedition features world famous Lake
Manyara, Ngorongoro and Serengeti
national Parks in the Tanzania portion of the East African
Great Rift Valley.
A sample schedule of our International Volunteer Travel Zanzibar Serengeti Adventure program is provided below:
Day
1: Arrival and pick up from Zanzibar
International Airport and transfer to host family
home or hotel. Day 2: Morning: registration and start of orientation. About 2-hour discussion covering topics including orientation to the program, Zanzibar culture, history, customs, politics, do’s and don’ts. Afternoon is free for exploring the Island and getting to know your host family. Day 3: Zanzibar volunteers abroad and international interns leave for project early in the morning after breakfast. Introductions held with project staff, and the host family. Day 3-7: Zanzibar Overseas volunteer or internship work. Interns abroad and overseas volunteers are free to explore the surrounding areas in their free time. Day 5: End international volunteer work. Farewell to the project and evaluation of the program. 6-12: Tanzania Serengeti Wilderness Safari: (7 Days)In Tanzania’s greatest Rift Valley wilderness parks adventurous volunteers and overseas interns will encounter over 450 bird species, and numerous species of animals including gazelles; impala; buffalo; wildebeest; the famous tree climbing lion; hyena; baboon; giraffe; hippopotamus, lions, leopards, elephants, rhinos, zebras, thousands of wildebeests, etc – over a million animals in total. Day 6: Zanzibar-Moshi: Start out early morning by ferry from Zanzibar to Dares Salaam. Take a shuttle bus to Moshi arriving in the afternoon. Dinner and overnight at a standard hotel. Day 7: Lake Manyara Safari: Overseas volunteers and Africa interns on this program leave Moshi, early morning and proceed to Lake Manyara National Park for game drive. Picnic lunch en-route, dinner and overnight at Campsite. Day 8: Olduvai-Serengeti: Depart Lake Manyara for Serengeti via Olduvai Gorge with lots of game viewing en-route. Olduvai is a world famous archaeological site in which early human fossils were first discovered. It has an amazing landscape that resulted from the tectonic forces, which created the Great Rift Valley. Evening game drive. If you are lucky you may witness the great Serengeti – Masai Mara wildebeest migration. Dinner and overnight at Serengeti campsite. Visit Olduvai Gorge a site of archeological importance - home to some of the earliest ancestors of man. Day 9: Serengeti: A full day of African wilderness experience in the Serengeti. If you are lucky you may witness the great Serengeti – Masai Mara wildebeest migration. Picnic lunch, Dinner and overnight at Serengeti campsite. Day 10: Serengeti – Ngorongoro: After breakfast game drives in Serengeti national park, then depart for Ngorongoro via Olduvai, game viewing along the way. Picnic lunch en-route. Dinner and overnight at Ngorongoro campsite. Day
11: Ngorongoro- Moshi: After breakfast depart
Serengeti for Ngorongoro Crater. Descend 2,000 feet
into the crater floor for game viewing with your picnic
lunch en-route. See hundreds of birds at the crater
lake. Afternoon depart Ngorongoro for Moshi arriving
late afternoon. Day 12: Moshi-Zanzibar: Start out early morning by shuttle bus to Dares Salaam, arriving in the around mid-day. Board a ferry for the 2-hour ride to Zanzibar. Day 13: Break, free day. Program Evaluation. Day 14: End of Adventure Program. Departure for those staying for 2 weeks. Those staying longer proceed to their volunteer abroad project placement. |
